Dental Implants at Smile Creations

Watch TV or Movies while in surgeryImplants are an advanced way of replacing missing teeth. A dental implant is a titanium metal rod, which is placed into the jawbone to support a replacement tooth. This acts as a substitute root for the tooth, giving it a lot more strength. Implants can also be used to support fixed bridges or dentures and the treatment has two stages. Initially, the implant post is placed in the jaw, and once the bone has integrated with the implant, replacement teeth are attached to the implant. The advantages of implants are that they avoid the need to cut down the teeth on either side of the implant, unlike for crowns which require this cutting down to support the bridge. Once fitted in the mouth, they do not move and are just like your normal teeth, so your speech and/or eating will not be affected, unlike in instances with dentures which are prone to move about.

Implants however, are not always suitable for all patients, please contact one of our clinicians for more advice and to find out if an implant is suitable for you.
